Happy Birthday, Sweet Rachel!

Saturday was Rachel's 15th birthday which means, of course, that a celebration was in order! :)
This sweet girl has had quite the series of unfortunate events on her birthdays over the past few years. This year we were determined that things were going to be different! While she still managed to get bronchitis, it didn't stop her! Between monkey bread, shopping, napping, and a very tasty dinner I think we could call the day a success. However, the fun didn't stop there. After dinner, us girls ran off to the cottage for a small celebration. It was the quintessential 'girl' party complete with sweets, manicures, giggling, and a movie. Well, we attempted to watch a movie...you know how that goes...
It was such a fun day! Thank you, Rachel, for letting us celebrate you! We are so very, very thankful for you and your life. You are a blessing and a beautiful example of Jesus' love every day! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Country Livin'

The adjustment hasn't been too bad. :) I think we like country living!

Let me correct that, I know my Joshua loves it and I think I'm going to really like it too. I love how quiet it gets a night. Of course, living on the land has it's quirks too. Last Friday morning we had a slight issue with water where just as I was trying to wash our coffee  mugs the water pressure disappeared. Fortunately, the mysterious drop in pressure was not so mysterious to my amazing hubby. Pretty much right away he figured that it was ants in the well pressure thingy (not exactly the technical term, but you get the idea.) It was only a few minutes after he got home from work and our water pressure was back to the norm. Just in time for me to get my chorin' done. :) :) :) ...and make dinner.

Another fun quirk to get used to is our lack of internet. This hasn't been to much of an issue, yet. I feel like I probably could use a little sabbatical from the world wide web. Recently, I've become enlightened to how entangling the internet can be. Not that I've been doing anything necessarily wrong but its the amount of time I waste that concerns me. For now, I'll be depending on our local Starbucks for internet strong enough to handle uploading pictures and blogging. And for that matter my updates will probably be more sparse.

I Couldn't Resist

As we get closer and closer to finishing I can't help but reflect on how crazy, different the little house looks! After we move in and get settled I'll definitely write a post with all the 'before' and 'after' pictures. For now, here's a look back at the changes made in the dining room!

I can not wait to decorate! :) :) :)

Watching it All Come Together

This weekend things really came together. We made our final (WOO HOO!!!) big shopping trip! Grammy and I did research during my Spring break and J did extensive research online and we finally decided on our appliances. On Saturday afternoon I went with Joshua to Lowes to pick them up. Other than that I pretty much stayed away from the little house. At this point in the project, there aren't many jobs for me. I definitely wouldn't know how to install appliances and so much of the detail stuff is a one-person kind of job. (To be honest, I didn't mind taking it easy. Who wouldn't?!) When I came up to see the progress Saturday night I was more than pleasantly surprised! Everything looks so good!

As of right now our plan is to move into the little house in T-minus 3 days!!

Two Weeks and Counting

 dining room floors
J's project working on the entry area
Our apartment days are numbered and our big working days are few. It's hard to believe that this project is coming to an end! While the end is in sight, we still have a lot to do! This weekend we were able to knock out a few of the bigger projects. The kitchen cabinets got stained, the countertops were installed, and our dining room has very lovely flooring. We're down to details like trim and baseboards. Joshua's working through the plumbing. It's like a puzzle trying to figure out how to connect all the pipes, but I'm confident he'll figure it out perfectly. He's so good. :) :) :) I'm on Spring break this weeks so my plan is to scrub up the bedrooms and start moving boxes over! (crazy!!)
