Still Unpacking?

We moved in about two months ago and would you believe we still have a room with several unpacked boxes? :)
I guess that's actually not too far fetched but if you know me- I'm not a procrastinator when it comes to making home feel home-y. The blessing of having an additional bedroom has given us a place to store away those unsightly boxes.  Conveniently, I can just close the door and pretend they aren't there.
Good plan, right? Well, the plan works so long as you don't have company in need of that extra guest room. Fortunately for us, I have a wonderful motivation to unpack those boxes and tidy up the room. My younger brother is coming down from Maryland to stay with us for a week. We are so excited. This week I got down to business unpacking. Now we have nice pile of empty boxes and a good collection to donate to our local Goodwill. It's coming along and Charlie will be here before we know it! We are so excited!

Working on the Windows

My delightful front door has one slight problem- the lovely windows aren't the best for privacy or security. As much as I l-o-v-e my mission style front door I do have to be honest that the windows don't afford too much privacy. If you walk up on our porch you can see directly into the house. While we don't necessarily mind that for those of you we know- it does pose a problem when we are not home. Anyone can see if we are in the house or not. This could invite unwelcome visitors to see almost all of our worldly possessions. As a makeshift solution I got some lovely wrapping paper and Joshua covered the window. If you don't look closely it doesn't look too bad, however, wrapping up the windows isn't exactly my choice. After all,  the big reason I chose the door was for the windows! Fortunately, Joshua is brilliant and found a more long-term solution! At Lowe's he found a film we can cut out and apply the windows to 'frost' them and prevent any ability to see through them! It's perfect! Since I've had a little extra free time now that it's Summer I decided it was about time for the wrapping paper to retire. It's done a fine job but we are ready to enjoy those windows now. :)

I love the way it looks and even more I love the way the morning light is cast through the window into the den. It's perfect!

7:30pm Anniversary Dinner

One Wonderful Year

Thankful doesn't begin to describe how I feel about being married to the man of my dreams! For an entire year now I've been blessed to be the wife of such an amazing man! He makes everyday feel like my birthday, and if you know me, birthdays are a BIG deal! :) He is simply wonderful to me. He reminds me of what Jesus looks like every-single-day! He is the picture of patience and gentleness while simultaneously being my brave hero- afraid of nothing and able to fix anything! I love him! Happy Anniversary, my beloved Joshua! I can't wait to celebrate a many, many more years with you! :)

To celebrate our first anniversary my sweet man swept me away to the beach for a fun weekend. We had a great time trading our little cottage for an ocean-front room. We got to go for long walks on the beach, eat some really good food, and of course watch a little Carolina baseball. :) Fortunately for us our anniversary will pretty much always coinside with college baseball super regionals or the College World Series. In our neck of the woods, those are pretty important events. :) I don't mind- I love my Carolina lovin' man.

Sweet, Sweet Summertime!

It's summer!! School is finally out and I am back to being a full-time housewife. I LOVE IT! Hopefully my extra time will result in the completion of a few of our 'punch-list' items. Not to mention I need to unpack our guest room in preparation of the visitors we are expecting this Summer! I can't wait! I hope to update soon with some projects or maybe just some crafty things I'm up to! :)
